With all of the juicing recipes I’m going to give you in this article you have the option to add water to it to dilute it if necessary. If you are watching your carbs in your sugar intake you may have to change the recipes a bit by reducing the quantity of fruit for each particular recipe.

Personally for myself I do not eat more than two pieces of fruit per day. For example if the recipe calls for 4 pieces of fruit I would just use a quarter of each of the individual fruits and make my drink that way. If you are into the high intensity phase of your exercise program and you are feeling overly tired these strings are good for a quick boost of energy. Just be sure to dilute them a bit by adding water to the recipe. You can also add Spirulina or any type of green vegetable powder to any of these juice recipes.

Apples & Carrots Combo Juice

  • Apples – 2
  • carrots – 2
  • This is an awesome juice combination nutrient wise it’s loaded with beta-carotene,  vitamin C, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Just combine all of the ingredients into the blender blend and enjoy.

Seaweed Special Juice

  • Apples – 2
  • Spiruina – 1 teaspoon
  • This is a great juicing recipe just make sure that you mix up to Spirulina with a little bit of the apple juice and a separate class or jar before combining it with the total mixture. As far as the nutrition is loaded with beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium, protein and essential fatty acids.

Mega Juice Recipe

  • Apples – 2
  • carrots – number two
  • ginger root – ½ inch
  • Spirulina – 1 teaspoon
  • Add your apples, carrots and ginger root into the blender and blend until it’s totally liquefied then add in your Spirulina. This combination gives you a mega boost of beta-carotene, full of gasoline, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium, protein and essential fatty acids

A Great Pear Recipe

  • apples – 2
  • pear – 1
  • Just combine the fruits into a blender blend away and enjoying. This mixture is loaded with beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium.

Sweetness in a Glass Recipe

  • Apples – 2
  • nectarine – 1
  • strawberries – 10
  • I prefer this recipe with the nectarine and strawberries being ripe. This is an awesome fruit juicing combination and just like most of the other recipes I have given you so far it contains beta-carotene, biotin, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Simply Delicious Recipe

  • Apples – 2
  • celery – 2 sticks
  • This is a great recipe in is extremely satisfying especially after an intense workout. Just combine all of the fruit into the blender blend away and enjoy. This mixture is power packed with beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium.

Tangy & Sweet Juice Recipe

  • Apples – 2
  • guavas – 2
  • Just combine these delicious fruits into the blender and blend and enjoy. With this recipe the guava can be a little bit tangy so I definitely recommend that you use a sweeter type of apple like a red Apple. This recombination contains beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin B3, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium.

Simply Nature’s Best

  • Apples – 2
  • oranges – 2
  • Just combine the fruits into the blender blend the way and enjoy just make sure that it’s liquefied is much as possible. This delicious recipe contains beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium.

Lisa’s Favorite Juice Combo

  • Apples – 2
  • tangerines – 2
  • lime – ½
  • This is a very citrus flavored type of combination. The tangerines have a more delicate flavor that embellishes the apple taste and the line gives a nice kick at the end. This is filled with vitamin’s such as beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium.

Detox Apple Combo Recipe

  • apples – 2
  • kale leaves – 3
  • celery – 1 stick
  • cucumber – ½ of a long cucumber
  • beet – ½
  • Combine all of the ingredients into a blender or juicer. This recipe is totally delicious especially when you compare it to other types of detox drinks. It’s loaded with beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin B3, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and potassium.

Grandmom’s Keto Style Cabbage and Kielbasa

  • Ingredients:
  • bacon/6 slices chopped into pieces
  • garlic – three cloves of raw garlic
  • beef bone broth – ¼ cup
  • yellow onion – ¼ cup of chopped onion
  • Stevia – 1 teaspoon
  • red pepper flakes – ¼ teaspoon
  • find Sea salt – ¼ teaspoon
  • caraway seeds – 1 tablespoon cabbage – 1 small head of cabbage sliced into noodle like strips
  • kielbasa – 1 pound of kielbasa cut into 2 inch length pieces
  • mustard – ½ cup of mustard

Let’s start this great recipe by frying the chopped bacon in a large skillet until it’s browned. After it’s browned remove it from the pan and gently spoon it over top of the paper towel and let it drain you can even pat the bacon with another paper towel to make it less greasy. Next, mash your three cloves of raw garlic and place them in the pan and add the red pepper flakes, Stevia, broth, onion, caraway seeds and salt and stir everything so a combined nicely. Then add the cabbage and mix it so that the ingredients are stirred in nicely with the cabbage. Just place the cover on the pan and let this cook on medium heat for about 11 – 14 minutes or for as long as it takes the cabbage to become tender. Add the kielbasa to the pan and cover it and let it cook for another 10 – 15 minutes; just make sure that the kielbasa is cooked thoroughly. Finally, just spoon the bacon pieces over top and you can serve it with your favorite mustard.

Lettuce Wraps

  • Ingredients:
  • Bibb lettuce – 8 leaves
  • mayonnaise – 3 tablespoons
  • mustard – 3 tablespoons
  • sliced roast beef, pepperoni, salami or ham – which every you like – 8 slices
  • cheese – 8 slices of any cheese of your choice
  • Other ingredients can include avocados, eggs, tomatoes, cucumber or any other type of vegetable that you like.

Now for this super quick and and tasty recipe you just lay your lettuce on a plate. Read your mayonnaise and mustard over top of each leaf. Then put your cold cuts and your cheese and any of the other ingredients on top of your mayonnaise and mustard and roll the leaf up and enjoy.

Here are the recipes:

Salad à la Guacamole

This is a delicious salad. The avocados do a great job of satisfying your hunger and cravings.

  • Avocados – 3  ripe avocados, chopped
  • Grape tomatoes – 2 cups of grape tomatoes, sliced in half
  • Minced garlic – ½ tablespoon
  • Chopped cilantro – 1 bunch
  • Lettuce – any type of lettuce approximately ½ pound
  • Lime juice – the juice from one fresh lime
  • Stevia – 1 packet
  • Black pepper and salt – to taste
  • Just mixed all of the ingredients together and you have a wonderful appetite killing salad. This recipe makes approximately 3 – 4  serving this.

Salsa à la Verdi

  • Tomatoes – 8 large  ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • Cilantro – 1 bunch of fresh cilantro – chopped
  • Garlic cloves – 2 cloves of garlic chopped
  • Onion – ¼ cup of chopped sweet onion
  • Lime juice – the juice from one fresh lime
  • Optional – 1 chopped jalapeno pepper
  • This is a great salsa recipe. This recipe makes about 2 cups. I like to use it as a dressing for my salads but you can even use it as a  dip for vegetables or any other type of food.

Bruschetta Paleo Style

  • Tomatoes – 3 large ripe tomatoes  – chopped
  • Cloves of garlic – 3 – chopped
  • Fresh basil – 1 cup
  • Endive –  separate into leaves the heads of two endive
  • Fresh ground black pepper and salt to taste
  • Mix together all of the above ingredients except for the endive leaves. Next, just use a spoon and scooping out a nice portion size of the mixture place it on each of the endive leaves. And  now you have a Paleo friendly bruschetta appetizer.

If you are looking to lose weight and keep it off here are 4 great recipes to help you. The recipes are some of my favorites. They are Thai Coconut Bliss, Roma Salad, Italian Salad and Caprese Island Salad.

Here are the recipes:

Thai Coconut Bliss

  • Shiitake mushrooms (thinly sliced)- 1 cup
  • Fresh basil (chopped)- 3 tbs
  • Fresh lime juice- ½ cup
  • Celtic sea salt- 1 tsp
  • Meat from 3 young coconuts
  • Coconut water- 1 ½ cup
  • Fresh ginger (minced)- 1 tbs
  • Olive oil- ¼ cup
  • Dates (pitted)- 4
  • Nama Shoyu soy sauce- 1 tbs
  • Clove garlic- 1
  • Take a small bowl to mix basil, mushrooms, sea salt, and ¼ cup lime juice. Once thoroughly mixed, put to the side. Using a blender, add in dates, soy sauce, coconut meat, rest of lime juice, olive oil, ginger, and coconut water. Blend until smooth. Add mixture into seperate bowls and top it off with mushroom mixture. Enjoy! This recipe makes 3-4 servings.

Roma Salad

  • Romaine lettuce – 1 head chopped
  • arugula 2 cups chopped
  • red or yellow bell peppers -2 large Peppers chopped
  • tomatoes – 4 Tomatoes chopped
  • zucchini – 1 large zucchini julienned
  • Basil – 1/4 cup of fresh chopped basil
  • olive oil –  two tablespoons of olive oil
  • minced garlic 1 tablespoon
  • black pepper and sea salt to taste
  • Combine all of the vegetables into a very large bowl and  then just dress the salad with the pepper, salt, garlic and olive oil. and of course the basil as well.

Italian Salad

  • Grape tomatoes – 1 cup sliced in half
  • cucumbers – one half cup of chopped cucumbers
  • sweet onion – 1/4 cup chopped
  • pepper – 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • mint – 1/2 cup of chopped mint
  • parsley – 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
  • minced garlic – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp of minced ginger
  • olive oil – 1/2 cup
  • low sodium soy sauce – 2 tablespoons
  • Mix all of the vegetables in a large bowl then add the dressing ingredients and serve.

Caprese Island Salad

  • Buffalo mozarella cheese – 10 thin slices
  • plum tomatoes – 2 Plum tomato sliced one quarter inch thick
  • fresh basil – 10 leaves
  • balsamic vinegar just a light drizzle
  • olive oil just another light drizzle
  • chop 1 clove of garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste

This is a really great recipe start by layering  a slice of cheese followed by, slice of tomato and basil leaf. drizzle over top your olive oil, balsamic vinegar and then add a pinch of the salt, garlic, pepper and then enjoy. You can even mix all of the dressing ingredients together and then just use a spoon and pour it over top of the individual portions.

Place all of the above ingredients into a bowl and blend them well together. Next, just pour them into a candy mold and allow them to freeze until they are firm. This recipe usually makes 10 pieces.

Coconutty Fat Bombs
coconut butter – 1/2 cup
coconut oil 1/2 cup
shredded unsweetened coconut – 1/2 cup
Stevia – to taste
Place your coconut butter and coconut oil in a pot over a low flame and stir until it’s nice and smooth and then stir in the shredded coconut and stevia. mix everything until it’s combined together. then, just pour it into a candy mold and let it freeze until it’s firm. Next you can melt approximately 3 oz of dark chocolate and just pour it over top of your firm coconut cups and set it back in the freezer. This recipe usually makes approximately 10 pieces.

Pizzaz Bombs
Pepperoni – 14 slices chopped
Pitted olives – 6 diced olives
Sun dried tomatoes – 4 of them that are oil packed – diced
Cream cheese- 4 ounces
basil – 1-2 tablespoons
Spice to taste – pepper, oregano, etc…
Combine everything together in a bowl. You can use a hand blender. Then just use your hand to roll about 7 nice sized balls

This week I’m going to give you four recipes that should help you reach your weight loss goals. I am giving you the recipes for: a Rainbow Veggie Salad, a Ginger and Carrot Dressing, a Teriyaki Sauce and Spring Rolls.

Rainbow Veggie Salad

  • Finely chopped red cabbage – ½ cup
  • chopped yellow pepper – ½ cup
  • shredded carrots – ½ cup
  • alfalfa sprouts – ½ cup
  • prepackaged mxed greens – 1 cup

Place your greens in the middle of the plate and then form a circle around your greens by placing the carrots, red cabbage, sprouts and peppers in tiny piles around your greens.  This recipe makes 2 – 4 servings. And it goes very nicely with the ginger and carrot dressing I am giving you next.

Ginger and Carrot Dressing

  • Baby Carrots – 2.5 Cups
  • Fresh Ginger – 3 Tablespoons
  • Stevia – 4 – 5 Packets
  • Apple cider vinegar – 1/3 cup
  • water – ½ cup
  • garlic – 1 clove garlic
  • flaxseed oil – ¼ cup
  • sesame oil – to taste
  • spices: cumin, coriander and or curry – to taste

Take your spices and set them on the side, then take half of your carrots and set them on the side as well, next add the remaining half of the carrots and all of the other ingredients except for the spices and place them in the blender. First pulse your blender and then you can turn it up as your mixture becomes more liquid. While the mixture is blinding you can add the additional carrots a little bit at a time and of course add the spices to taste. If your mixture is too thick you may add some additional water or apple cider vinegar. This is a great dressing for most salad dishes and especially for the role sushi dish that I have previously given you on the site. This recipe makes approximately 4 cups.

Teriyaki Sauce

  • Nama Shoyu soy sauce – 1 cup
  • pure maple syrup – 1 cup
  • chopped ginger – 1 teaspoon
  • garlic – 1 clove
  • sesame oil – to taste

Let’s start making the soy spy blending together all of the ingredients and we can use this as a nice dipping sauce for the spring roll recipe I am going to give you next or as a very nice salad dressing.

Now for the Spring Rolls:

  • red bell pepper – one julienned
  • carrots – two large carrots and julienned
  • cilantro – one bunch of whole cilantro leaves
  • mint – one bunch of chopped mint leaves
  • basil – one bunch of whole basil leaves
  • cabbage leaves – 10 green or red cabbage leaves

This recipe is so super simple to make all that you have to do, is lay out your cabbage leave and just place the cilantro, basil, mint, pepper and carrots inside and roll the cabbage leave and finally dip it into the teriyaki sauce that I just gave you he recipe for. I have to tell you, this recipe is so quick and easy to make and it’s so very refreshing. You’ll be quite surprised that your teenagers and 20-year-olds will really enjoy this the course of its crispness, coolness and tasty teriyaki sauce. Just don’t ruin it by telling them that it’s good for them LOL.

In our home, my wife keeps a large batch of the teriyaki sauce in the refrigerator that way when Noah has friends at the house they can make the spring rolls on their own.

So. there you have 4 recipes to hopefully help you lose weight but also improve your overall health and wellness.

I am going to give you the recipes for doc’s salad, chop chop salad, spicy fruit salad and Great Grand-Mom Verdi’s Salad. With the high temperatures of the past few days I thought it would be nice to post a few recipes that are light and refreshing and will fill your tummy and satisfy your appetite and cravings. Doc’s Salad

  • Portobello mushrooms – three mushrooms chopped
  • balsamic vinegar – 1/3 cup
  • Olive oil – 1/3 cup
  • pure maple syrup – 3 tablespoons
  • scallions – 2 tablespoons of sliced scallions
  • bell pepper – 1 chopped bell pepper
  • grape tomatoes – 1 cup of grape tomatoes sliced in half
  • lettuce – ½ pound
  • corn – 4 ears of corn with the kernels sliced off

Let’s start this great recipe by first marinating the mushrooms in the olive oil, maple syrup and vinegar for approximately one hour. Next mix the bell peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, scallions and corn in a very large bowl. Mix everything together well. Divide the mixture onto 4 – 6 plates and just sprinkle all the chopped mushrooms over top.

Chop Chop Salad

  • Green beans – 1 cup of green beans
  • kernels cut from the cop of three years of corn
  • bell pepper – 1 bell pepper chopped preferably red or yellow
  • carrots – 2 large carrots chopped
  • grape tomatoes – 2 cups of grape tomatoes sliced in half
  • chopped zucchini – 1 large zucchini chopped
  • chives – 3 tablespoons of minced chives

Combine all of the ingredients into a bowl and enjoy.

Spicy Fruit Salad

  • Carrot – 1 large carrots sliced lengthwise
  • bell pepper – 1 bell pepper sliced thinly
  • zucchini – 1 large zucchini sliced thinly
  • beet – 1 large beet sliced
  • walnuts – ½ cup of chopped walnuts
  • apple – 1 cup of sliced apples
  • ginger – 2 tablespoons of diced fresh ginger
  • garlic – 2 cloves of garlic and diced
  • jalapeno – ½ of a jalapeno diced
  • cranberries – ½ cup of dried cranberries
  • artichoke – ½ cup of sliced artichokes
  • mint – ¼ cup of fresh mint
  • basil – ½ cup of fresh basil
  • cilantro – ½ bunch of fresh cilantro

Just mix all the ingredients into a large bowl, toss well and serve with any dressing of your choice.

Great Grand-Mom Verdi’s Salad Recipe

  • Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon
  • cherry tomatoes – 1 cup of cherry tomatoes sliced in half
  • garlic – 1 clove of chopped garlic
  • romaine lettuce – 3 cups chopped
  • oregano – ½ teaspoon of fresh oregano chopped
  • thyme – ½ teaspoon chopped
  • olive oil – ¼ cup of olive oil
  • red wine vinegar – 2 tablespoons
  • olives – 4 olives chopped
  • black pepper and salt to taste.

Now combine all the ingredients into a bowl and toss well. Serve with your favorite dressing.

Well, it’s July 6th and over the course of these past two days I cannot tell you how many people have been raving about the totally vegan and paleo friendly ice cream recipes that I had posted in our medical_weight_loss_philadlephiaPhiladelphia Medical Weight Loss Center these past several weeks.

Many people told me that they served these ice cream recipes at their July 4th parties and everyone loved them.

With that being said I am going to post these ice cream recipes here on our blog today.

Chocolate Ice Cream
bananas – 3 bananas
pure cocoa powder – 3 tablespoons
Tahini – 2 tablespoons
Stevia – 8 packets of stevia,Depending on how sweet you want your ice cream
dates – 6 dates with the pit removed
Ice Cube – about 10- 14 ice cubes

This is a phenomenal recipe all that you have to do is have to put your cocoa powder, Stevia, bananas, dates, one cup of ice and the tahini into a blender.  Start the blender by pulsing it at first and then you could put it at higher speeds. very carefully add the remaining ice cubes until everything is Blended together nicely and you have a nice creamy texture. I usually do not need to use the entire 4 cups of ice but it will all depend on how thick you like your ice cream. You can even add a little bit of water to this if it becomes too thick and is not blending as well as you would like.

Vanilla Ice Cream
coconut – the meat of 3 coconuts
pure vanilla beans – 1 tablespoon
maple syrup – 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup
10 – 14 ice cubes
Start by putting your vanilla beans, 4 ice cubes, coconut meat and maple syrup into a blender and begin pulsing this mixture. When it starts blending well together add the remaining ice cubes into the blender. Again remember that you may not really need to use all of the ice cubes.

Strawberry Ice Cream
The meat from two coconuts.
Stevia – 6 – 8 packets of stevia depending upon your taste
Frozen strawberries – two bags
dates – 6 pitted dates
strawberry extract – 1 teaspoon
10 – 14 ice cubes
Here we go again! Start this recipe by putting all of the above ingredients into a blender with just about 4 ice cubes and start by pulsing the mixture and then turn it up to your higher settings on your blender. Very carefully and slowly and the rest of the ice cubes. once again remember you may not need to use all of the ice cubes. I usually only use about 10 ice cubes but some of our patients use more.

Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia 4th of July Recipes

medical_weight_loss_philadelphiaIt’s Saturday morning July 1st and yes we are in the office seeing people. Helping everyone achieve their weight loss, health and fitness goals. So many people came into the office today telling me how much they enjoyed the sushi recipe that I recently posted.

So I have decided to post a few more recipes today that are Paleo and Vegan-friendly and also quick and easy to make. Two of the recipes I am posting are for a Caesar dressing and for guacamole. These two recipes are loaded with great tasting vegetables and spices and personally I think they taste better than the store-bought versions. And they are definitely more healthy for you. I’m also going to give you the recipes for Honey Drizzled Romaine Lettuce Wraps and Ashley’s Super Salad.

These recipes taste fantastic and they are all paleo and vegan friendly. And if you are not following a Paleo or vegan diet it doesn’t matter because these recipes just taste so good and as an extra bonus they will help you lose weight.

And now here are the recipes:

Honey Drizzled Romaine Lettuce Wraps

  • Romaine lettuce leaves – 5 large romaine lettuce leaves
  • Raw almond butter –  5 tablespoons of raw almond butter
  • Honey – 3 teaspoons of raw honey

This is a super simple easy and delicious recipe to make. Just take 1 tbsp of the almond butter and spread it all over your lettuce leaf and take ½ Teaspoons of the raw honey and poured over top and then just roll up the leaf and enjoy.

Ashley’s Super Salad Recipe

  • Romaine lettuce – ½ pound
  • Grape tomatoes – 1 cup sliced in half
  • Raisins – 1 cup
  • Apple – 1 large apple – diced
  • Scallions – 3 tablespoons of chopped scallions
  • Chives – 2 tablespoons of chopped chives
  • Red or yellow pepper – 1 large chopped and diced
  • Cucumber – 1 large cucumber peeled and chopped
  • Basil – ¼ cup – fresh basil is preferred

Stir all of the above ingredients is a large bowl and serve with your favorite salad dressing.

Caesar Dressing

  • cold pressed olive oil- ¼  cup
  • garlic – 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  • Celery – 4 stalks of celery cut in half
  • Water – 1/2 cup of water
  • lemon juice – ¼  cup of fresh lemon juice
  • Soy sauce  – ¼ cup og low sodium soy sauce
  • Sweet miso – 2 tbsps
  • Dates – 5
  • Pepper – fresh ground pepper to taste

Combine all of the ingredients in an airtight jar and shake well until all of the ingredients are blended nicely. This makes about 3 cups of dressing and it’s best to keep it refrigerated for about 5 days.

Guacamole

  • Avocados – 3 chopped
  • Limes – squeeze the juice of 2 large limes
  • Onion – ¼ cup of chopped red onion
  • Grape tomatoes – 1 cup of grape tomatoes sliced in half
  • Peppers – either red or yellow ½ cup chopped
  • Cilantro – chop up ½ buch
  • Salt to taste
  • Swerve – ½ tsp
  • Olive oil – just a little bit – about ½ tsp

Too make this recipe all that you have to do is combine all of the ingredients into a large bowl. If you like you can mash the avocados or just put everything into a Nutribullet or something like that. This recipe makes approximately two cups of guacamole.

So there we have it four great recipes that taste good and will also help you achieve your health and  weight loss goals. I decided to put the Caesar dressing and the guacamole recipe in this post because a lot of new patients have been coming into the practice and for the most part they are eating a good diet but some of the things that most people seem to be getting wrong are the types of salad dressing and dips they are using. And that’s why some of my more recent posts have included recipes for diet friendly dressing and dips.

Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia Late Night Veggie Sushi Recipe

Hi everyone Dr. Kenny here. Well it’s 11:15 PM Wednesday night and I am here on our website posting this recipe because it was so good I could not wait until tomorrow morning to share it with all of you. Today was another great day at our Medical Weight Loss Center with lots of happy patients losing weight. We finished seeing patient at 9:00 PM and that means I arrived at home at 10:00 PM. I was hungry but didn’t want anything too heavy so my wonderful wife, Elyse, surprised me with a wonderful new recipe. She made me a Raw Sushi Roll.

But instead of using raw fish she used raw  vegetables and it was so delicious. So much so that I had to type up this article and posted on our website.

So here is the recipe:

The ingredients are as follows:

Ingredients:

  • nori seaweed sheets – 4 sheets
  • bib lettuce leaves – 4 leaves
  • alfalfa sprouts – 2 cups
  • julienned cucumbers – one large cucumber
  • shredded carrot – one large carrot

My wife made this recipe by taking the nori sheet and just spreading it out in front of you and then lay one leaf of the lettuce across the nori sheet. Next very gently take all of the vegetables noted above and spread them out on top of your lettuce leaf. And then just roll the nori sheet around all of your vegetables. Just make sure that it’s rolled tight. Now all that you have to do is take some water and moisten the end of the sheet and seal it and fold it up just like you would fold or close an envelope.

Then take a sharp knife and you can slice your roll into pieces. Now you just have to dip it into one of the delicious salad dressing recipes that I have here on the site and enjoy. Since this sushi is mainly vegetables you can eat as much of it as you like. I hope you will enjoy this recipe because I really did this evening.
